FED:Swan pays tribute to Aussie sacrifice
Acting Prime Minister WAYNE SWAN has paid tribute to the sacrifice of Australians in
war .. saying Anzac Day honours their service and is a reminder of the values that underpin
the nation.
Mr SWAN says Australians respect the service of their young countrymen and women around
the world.
He says this year .. like every year .. provides significant anniversaries in Australia's
military history .. giving everyone pause to reflect upon what it means to serve overseas.
This year marks the 60th anniversary of a major Australian battle at Kapyong in the
Korean War .. while 70 years ago Australian units fought in Greece, Crete and north Africa.
Mr SWAN will attend an ANZAC Day event at Kedron-Wavell RSL in Brisbane today.
