SA: Adelaide university signs agreements with Beijing uni

The University of Adelaide has signed three cooperative agreements with the prestigious
Tsinghua University in China.

University of Adelaide vice-chancellor JAMES MCWHA says the agreements with the Beijing
university are an important milestone.

The agreements will enable the University of Adelaide to offer its foundation studies
program in partnership with Tsinghua.

It's also hoped to attract graduates from Beijing to South Australia for postgraduate work.

Professor MCWHA says Tsinghua is rated as the top university in China.

He says the first intake for the Adelaide foundation studies program will occur in
November, with a target of between 80 and 100 students.
